Ollie and a new pal.

Over the surface of the alien landscape Astronaut Ollie guided his ship, the Star Cruiser, Jolly Ollie.  The orange surface gleamed outside the window.  Ollie radioed to Moonwater control that all was well as he prepared to land.  He lowered the landing skids and eased back on the controls.  The Jollie Ollie touched down in a flurry of dust and rocks.

Ollie lowered the hatch and stepped out to into the new world.  The purple orange sky was full of early evening stars.  There were planets with rings visible in the distance beyond the strange mountain range countless miles away.  The orange sand felt soft under his boots.  “Moonwater Control, this is Astronaut Ollie.  I’m on the ground of Planet X!”  “Roger, Astronaut Ollie.  We read you from Planet X.”

Ollie was taking soil and air samples when he noticed a trio of tiny eyes peering from above a crater rim.  When he approached the eyes darted out of sight.  He looked over the rim and found little creature, like a small mop with no arms or legs and three eyes.  It floated above the surface and looked up at Ollie with a little smile.

“Ahoy there!” said Ollie. The creature retreated a little and hid behind a rock formation.  He took a cookie from his utility belt and offered it in intergalactic friendship. The creature came out and sniffed at his gift.  A mouth formed on its little face and the cookie disappeared.  The creature gave him a wide smile and offered a hand that cams from the fuzzy little body.

Ollie took it’s hand and led him to the Jolly Ollie where he would show it the controls and gave him more cookies.  Later that day Ollie’s new friend took him to her house where he learned her name was Bleefle. She had a large family who welcomed Ollie as a new friend from a faraway place.

Astronaut Ollie’s first mission to a faraway place was a success.
