Monster Appreciation Day
What would you do if there were monsters in your meadow?
What would you do if there were creatures in your sea? What would you do if there were bug furry things with wings that fly in your sky? You might think to get rid of them but they live here too, so what would you do?
The monsters of Moonwater Meadow used to be mean. You’d be too if you were a monster. They’d come stomping though causing all kinds of chaos. They’d steal pies from window sills, mess up equipment at the observatory and crush everything underfoot.
Artemouse lost a model airplane like that when Jeff with the orange polka dots not only stepped on it but stole it as well! I was on Lake Harvartidill (like the cheese) admiring the fish when Orson with the green scales came up from the depths, scared away the fish and sank my little boat.
They were no fun to have around.
We had a meeting because something had to be done about the big clumsy oafs going around scaring everybody. Which you would too if you were a monster.
We searched through the woods and found them round a campfire in a clearing. Jeff was repairing a model airplane and Orson was patching a hole in my boat.
“Oh, hi”, said Jeff with the orange polka dots in a deep monstery voice. “We didn’t mean to break your stuff. We just wanted to see if you wanted to get pizza or something. I fixed your airplane. Cool hat, by the way.”
“Yeah you guys didn’t seem to want us around. I mean, I know we break stuff but we can’t really help that. We’re kinda big. I patched your boat.” said Orson with the green scales.
They’re big and clumsy but they mean no harm. They used to be mean because no one would play with them. We all got together and came up with Monster Appreciation Day. That’s today. We’re all going to the movies later and then for pizza. Jeff with the orange polka dots wants to go to the observatory and look through the telescope. Artemouse baked a few pies for Orson, too.
If there are monsters in your meadow don’t be afraid.
They live there too. They probably just want new friends and what better way to make friends than to show you appreciate them, big clumsy feet and all?
