Ollie Adventure Calendar, May 18 (we’re a little late)

This week on the calendar was Build a Paper Airplane Day!   What a fun day we had in the meadow building paper planes.  Everyone had colorful designs.  Some flew far and some, well, they flew as far as the nearest tree trunk.

I went the traditional route, having learned that even though wood is technically paper, it doesn’t fold well and really doesn’t fly well once you actually get it folded.  My plane was the basic design.

Once it was done I attached it to the launcher we built which was a rubber band tied to two poles.  The plane launched and flew high into the air.  I was gliding and sailing along when I realized one important thing; I forgot about steering.

I ended up stuck in the trees with a family of birds who just had a pizza delivered.  It’s fun to make new friends who share pizza!
